Thousand Oaks, CA– The Oaks rebounded after losing 7-6 to the Ventura Halos two days prior to crushing the SoCal Halos on Father’s Day, winning 14-2.
While the SoCal Halos roster is composed of predominantly Ventura College products, they still put up a fight. Nonetheless, the Oaks played well and asserted themselves early both on the mound as well as at the plate. Sam Shaikin (Valparaiso) led the charge for the Oaks going three-for-three, with two runs-batted-in, three doubles, one walk, one hit-by-pitch and four runs scored.
The Oaks also eclipsed the ten-plus-hit mark in a game for the twelfth time in their first thirteen games of the season. The 14 hits was a necessary bounce-back after the lackluster offensive performance displayed on Friday. From the top of the order to the bottom, every Oaks found a way to contribute to the win.
Milo Beam (Purdue) went three-for-five with two successful bunts and two runs scored, and Jassen Oliver (CSU Bakersfield) added an RBI-triple along with two runs scored of his own.
Nate Wehner (Cal Lutheran) made his second start and appearance for the Oaks on the mound, pitching four innings deep and giving up two hits to go along with six strikeouts.
The Oaks will be off Monday before they begin an eight-game stretch starting on Tuesday where they will face off against the Arroyo Seco Saints at 5:00 P.M. at “Sparky” Anderson Field. Watch live on Youtube at 4:45 P.M.
