Press Release: Oaks Hold On To Beat The Barons

Thousand Oaks, CA- The Conejo Oaks recovered from their disappointing loss 5-4 loss against the SLO Blues to take down the Academy Barons 7-4 in a one-game stint at “Sparky” Anderson Field.

The Oaks led 7-1 heading into the top of the ninth inning and, once again, watched their lead begin to dwindle. Garrett Ouelette (San Bernandino Valley College) for the Barons hit a solo homer, followed by two wild pitches that brought in two more runs to cut the lead to three. The Barons, thereafter, had two on base with Jonah Hargroves (Jackson St.) at the plate representing the tying run. However, Joe Torres (Glendale Community College) and Jackson Simonsgaard (Oxnard Community College) drew the final two outs of the inning to seal the victory for the Oaks.

D.J. Miller (Ole Miss) made his second straight start for Oaks, going 2-4 with two RBI singles and a stolen base. Milo Beam (Purdue) also contributed to the win, pouring in two RBI’s on a double and drew a walk.

David Appleby (Santa Barbara City College) started for the Oaks, Going five strong innings and only giving up three hits, one run and two walks. He also collected two strikeouts in the win. He is 1-0 on the season.

The Oaks will play the final game of their seven-game home-stand against the Northridge Bulls on Saturday before they hit the road to face the Orange County Riptide on Sunday morning. Coverage for Saturday’s game will begin at 4:15 P.M. Watch live at oaksbaseball.org or kadytv.com.
